On March 2, Divert NS hosted a Food Waste Summit to increase awareness of the impacts of food waste and to profile initiatives that retailers, institutions and community groups are undertaking to reduce food waste in Nova Scotia and across Canada.

Acadia University and its food service partner, Chartwells, are working together to advance sustainability performance and improve student health at the University. New initiatives outlined in a recent two-year contract extension focus on several key areas including local and Fair Trade food and beverage purchasing.

A food forum is planned for November 24th to gather feedback from students about food service on campus. Information collected at this event will help inform the upcoming food contract at Acadia.
