Electric Vehicle Charging Station

Acadia installed an electric vehicle charging station in 2020 at the Acadia Athletics Complex parking lot for use by the campus, community and visitors to the area. The project is a partnership between Acadia University and the Town of Wolfville, and has been partially funded by Natural Resources Canada.

A 2018 Memorandum of Understanding between Acadia University, the Acadia Students' Union and the Town of Wolfville called for cooperation on the installation of infrastructure to enable the expansion of the electric vehicle charging network in the community, and in turn encourage the uptake of electric vehicles as a solution to climate change. Electric vehicles can help reduce our society's dependence on fossil fuels and contribution to climate change from the transportation sector.

Acadia-Wolfville Fast Charger

The Acadia-Wolfville charging station is a SMART DC-V2, Multi-Standard DC Fast Charging Station or Level 3 Station supplied by AddENERGIE and their network partner FLO. Most vehicles can charge in 30 minutes or less compared to a level 2 charger, which charges vehicles in 1-3 hours, or compared to a level 1 charger in 6-10 hours.  Acadia and the Town of Wolfville decided to install a fast charger to provide the most convenient charging solution for electric vehicle drivers. There are now thousands of charging stations of all levels across Canada and beyond. Visit FLO to view a map of charging stations in Canada.

Power to the charging station is supplied by Nova Scotia Power Inc. The Acadia-Wolfville charger is similar to those installed by the utility around the province in 2018.

Vehicle Compatibility

The Acadia-Wolfville Charger has CHAdeMO and SAE J1772 Combo compatible connectors. As of December 2019 vehicles compatible with the charging station included:
