Acadia says Yes, to No Mow May, for Earth Day 2022

Wolfville, NS - Acadia is participating in a national campaign, called NO MOW MAY, in partnership with the Blomidon Naturalists Society.

The campaign calls for land and homeowners to delay mowing grass in the early spring to support pollinators, such as bees, butterflies, and birds. In the large grassed area north of Crowell Tower, plants such as dandelions and clover, will be allowed to grow in May to provide food and habitat early in the growing season.

This area was selected because it is a visible area in the centre of campus and will provide a large refuge for pollinators where they will not be disturbed. Signs will be posted in the area to explain and promote the project.

Acadia is pleased to announce this new program in time for Earth Day 2022. This initiative also supports Acadia’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #15: Life On Land.
