Join us for a celebration of Fair Trade at Acadia during Fair Trade Campus Week. Events and activities are planned across campus throughout the week from September 24th - 28th, 2018.

All Week

Stop by the K.C. Irving Environmental Science Centre Café for 10% off all items made with fair trade ingredients. Bring your mug and receive 25% off Hacha Java coffee.

Monday Sept. 24

All day: On the Go Huggins Cafe, Beverage Café and Athletics Axepress: Fair Trade baked goods and bananas for sale in Chartwells retail locations.

7:00 PM - 9:00 PM Visiting Speaker: Dr. Gavin Fridell - Broken Trade: Making the Shift to a Fair Trade World

Gavin Fridell
Gavin Fridell is a Canada Research Chair in International Development Studies at Saint Mary’s University, Halifax, and a member of the Advisory Council of the Canadian Fair Trade Network. He has published three books and numerous articles on fair trade and free trade, drawing on research on coffee in Mexico and fruit in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. He holds a PhD in Political Science from York University and, in 2015, was inducted as a member of the College of New Scholars of the Royal Society of Canada. This event is presented by the Acadia Sustainability Office, Just Us! and Chartwells. Location: K.C. Irving Environmental Science Centre Auditorium. Refreshments to follow.

Wednesday Sept. 26

All Day: Fair Trade baked goods and bananas (all week) in Wheelock Hall plus Fair Trade Information table/booth

4:00 PM - 7:00 PM: Acadia Sustainability Office @ the Wolfville Farmer's Market Sustainability Fair
Stop by our booth for information on the Fair Trade Campus program and other Acadia sustainability initiatives. Plus, get fed at the market and hear their latest announcement.  

Thursday Sept. 27

Free Fair Trade Hot Chocolate and Coffee Pop-ups outside near the BAC and Huggins. Look for the tent during morning class break courtesy of Chartwells.

Friday Sept. 28

Look for the Fair Trade info booth for free samples and giveaway in the BAC, near the library in the morning.
