Graduating student Sadie Moland donates AUFA award to Acadia Farm

Acadia graduating student Sadie Moland recently received the The Lois Vallely-Fischer Award for Democratic Student Citizenship from the Acadia University Faculty Association. This award is presented to a student in her or his final year of undergraduate study at Acadia who has contributed to the quality of democratic discourse, critical thought, and legitimate contestation in campus or community life, and who has demonstrated leadership in defending student political rights and the interests of disadvantaged groups. Sadie donated a portion of the award, an amount of $1000, to the Acadia Community Farm.

"Volunteering at the Farm has been one of my favourite experiences from my time at Acadia so it would feel great to help improve it in some way before I graduate" explained Sadie.

The award was presesented by Sadie at the farm on a chilly April 28th morning to the incoming student farm coordinator Sarah Boudreau. The donation will be used to support educational workshops and a new pollinator garden with beneficial plants and flowers for bees, butterflies, hummingbirds and more to help raise awareness about the importance of pollinator species in agriculture.
