Acadia recycles batteries on campus

In 2012 Acadia partnered with Call2Recycle to recycle batteries and cell phones on campus. Since starting the program over 400 kilograms of batteries have been recycled through this program. Some batteries have also been disposed of through the Hazardous Waste Disposal Program at Valley Waste Resource Management.

The majority of batteries recycled at Acadia are alkaline, both disposable and rechargeable. While we are managing our waste responsibly by recycling these items, all departments are encouraged to use rechargeable batteries to reduce the amount of waste generated at Acadia.

Please contact the Acadia Sustainability Office with any questions about this or other waste management programs.
