Acadia ranked among top ten universities in Canada for environmental commitment

Acadia received a high grade for it's comitment to the environment in the annual Globe and Mail University Report card. The survey asks students to rate their level of satisfaction with their school's comitment to the environment and Acadia consistently receives good grades from it's students.

"We're thrilled that our students recognize our commitment to  environment and sustainability at the institution," commented Jodie Noiles, Sustainability Coordinator at Acadia. "The entire Acadia community plays a part in campus sustainability and many activities are student driven so they deserve alot of credit for our accomplishments as well."

Environmental sustainability highlights at Acadia include Trayless Dining, which started in 2009, Acadia Sustainability Week, an annual event to raise awareness and encourage action on issues, the new biology building, which is built to LEED gold standards, and numerous energy efficiency retofits and conservation programs. Recently, LED lights were installed throughout campus and the annual Holiday energy program lowers Acadia's energy load during the Christmas break, reducing our consumption, costs and GHG emissions.
